Beer for Bellmer
Beer for Bellmer helps build playground for refugees
Project 009, whose name is derived from the refugee camp 009 in the Bekaa Plain, is a small non-profit organization from Berlin. They have been supporting Syrian refugees in Lebanon on a voluntary basis with various projects since 2017.
For many years, the situation of refugees in Lebanon has hardly changed and now threatens to deteriorate further due to the current economic situation in the country. Hadath Baalbak in the Bekaa Plain is off the main highway - the people there are mostly on their own. Although they receive a small amount of financial support from UNHCR, they have to earn their living mostly by working in the fields.
Project 009 aims to give the people in the camps new perspectives and hope for a better and more self-determined life by coming into direct contact with the refugees and involving them in its work. With the help of contacts and the support of the mayor of Hadath Baalbak, Project 009 now got the opportunity to build a playground for the children of the camps on a vacant building plot, which is located near several camps.
Funds are needed for materials that cannot be collected, such as gasoline, screws, tools, etc.. With the help of recyclable materials such as wood, car tires, etc., of which there are enough available in Lebanon, a kind of oasis with a playground for the children and gardens will be created on site, where people can grow their own vegetables and other food.
The work of the organization will take place transparently, i.e. all invoices will be disclosed and the progress of the project will be documented in writing as well as pictorially.
